The Professional Qualification of Dry Stone Builder was officially approved in Spain last 24 November 2020. This qualification regulates the skills required for professional builders that they can acquire either by attending training courses or through work experience. This approval has been possible thanks to the task carried out by a Qualification Working Group at the state level, which included technicians and dry stone builders of Consell de Mallorca, who succeeded to define the Competence Units and the associated Training Modules.

From January 2021 and throughout the year, it is open the first call to award the accreditation of skills by validating work experience or informal training without an official degree.

From now on work will consist of preparing the Vocational Training degree and the Certificate of Professionalism. Once created, they will allow implementing vocational and occupational training actions accredited at National and European level.

All these actions aim to achieve the official recognition of professional builders will allow ensuring a proper transmission of the trade, adapt the training to the current production system requirements, facilitate the recruitment of professionals by public and private companies and encourage the exchange and mobility at European level.
